Nutritive Value of D-Tryptophan for the Growing Pig

Journal of Animal Science, 1985
The replacement value of D-tryptophan (D-TRP) for L-tryptophan (L-TRP) was estimated in four 28-d experiments with weanling pigs. In all experiments, supplementing TRP-deficient diets with D- and L-TRP significantly increased feed intake, rate and efficiency of gain and decreased plasma urea N (PUN). In Exp.

A convex method for learning d-valued models

2013 IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing, 2013
Learning structurally constrained models such as sparse or group-sparse vectors, low-rank matrices, etc. is an important topic in machine learning. In this work, we consider vectors with only a few distinct values which we call d-valued vectors. This structure is useful when there are relations between the covariates in a regression task, or similarity

Period(d)ness of L-Values

2013
In our recent work with Rogers on resolving some of Boyd’s conjectures on two-variate Mahler measures, a new analytical machinery was introduced to write the values L(E, 2) of L-series of elliptic curves as periods in the sense of Kontsevich and Zagier.

d-Amino acids in mammals and their diagnostic value

Journal of Chromatography B, 2002
Substantial amounts of D-amino acids are present in mammalian tissues; their function, origin and relationship between pathophysiological processes have been of great interest over the last two decades. In the present article, analytical methods including chromatographic, electrophoretic and enzymatic methods to determine D-amino acids in mammalian ...

VALUING R&D

Chemical & Engineering News Archive, 2010
MUCH IS SAID ABOUT the importance of research, development, and innovation to the U.S. economy. The National Academy of Sciences composes weighty reports on the subject, Congress debates how many tax dollars to devote to science and technology, and corporations tout the value of their research portfolios.

On D-stable and D-semistable matrices and the structured singular value

Proceedings of 35th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002
It is shown that testing a matrix A /spl isin/ R/sup nxn/ for discrete-time D-stability is equivalent to testing if the structured singular value (SSV or /spl mu/) of a matrix M /spl isin/ R/sup 2nx2n/ obtained from A, is less than unity. Testing for D-semistability (i.e.

A model complete theory of valued D-fields

Journal of Symbolic Logic, 2000
AbstractThe notion of a D-ring, generalizing that of a differential or a differenee ring, is introduced, Quantifier elimination and a version of the Ax—Kochen—Eršov principle is proven for a theory of valued D-fields of residual characteristic zero.

[New dietary reference values vitamin D].

Nederlands tijdschrift voor geneeskunde, 2012
The benefit of vitamin D has been heavily debated over the past few years. There are claims that vitamin D not only fulfils a protective function for bone health, but for diseases such as cancer, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease as well. The question is: to what extent have such claims been scientifically proven?
