A new monogenean, Rhamnocercoides lambayequensis n. sp. (Dactylogyridea: Diplectanidae), is described based on the specimens collected from the gills of the Pacific kingcroaker Menticirrhus elongatus (Günther 1864) (Perciformes: Sciaenidae), a demersal fish endemic to Eastern Pacific, captured off the South American Pacific coast, Lambayeque Region ...

BACKGROUND : Tetraonchidae is a small and relatively monomorphic family of dactylogyroid monogeneans. Since the morphology of sclerites of the attachment organ (haptor) is one of the primary criteria in tetraonchid taxonomy, the confocal study of sclerites and associated musculature may provide valuable taxonomic information.

Phylogenetic analysis of morphological characters provided a hypothesis for the origin of the Sundanonchidae within the Tetraonchinea (Dactylogyridea) as sister group to the Tetraonchidae. Sundanonchus tomanorum n. sp. is described and S. micropeltis is reported from the gills of toman, Channa micropeltes, from Tapah, Perak, Malaysia.

Phylogenetic analyses based on partial 18S rDNA sequences of polyonchoinean monogeneans were conducted in order to investigate the relationships between selected families and subfamilies of the Dactylogyrinea, mainly within the Dactylogyridae. We tested the status of the Ancyrocephalidae sensu Bychowsky & Nagibina (1978) and the Ancyrocephalinae sensu ...

A new species of Chauhanellus Bychowsky & Nagibina, 1969 is described from the gills of the Peruvian sea catfish, Galeichthys peruvianus Lütken (Siluriformes, Ariidae), collected from the Southern Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru. The description of the new species is based on an integrative taxonomic approach, incorporating morphological data ...

This work provides new molecular data on seven species representing three genera (Protoancylodiscoides, Schilbetrema and Synodontella) in the order Dactylogyridea. The results help to explain the origin of Synodontella spp. and to elucidate the phylogenetic position of Synodontella in relation to the other genera.

Different taxonomic problems of the Dactylogyridea Bychowsky, 1937 are discussed. From the recent point of view, all old genera need a careful revision. Taxa of higher ranks should be analysed taking into account their host phylogeny and zoogeography.

Abstract As part of a parasitological survey, several specimens of two new monopisthocotylean species, Neotetraonchus celsomanueli sp. nov. and N.peruvianus sp. nov. (Dactylogyridea, Dactylogyridae), were collected from the gill filaments of the Peruvian sea catfish Galeichthys peruvianus (Siluriformes, Ariidae) off Puerto Pizarro, Tumbes region ...
