Estimation of daily mean temperatures: an accurate method for the Douro Valley [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Técnica Vitivinícola, 2018
Air temperature data from many locations worldwide are only available as series of daily minima and maxima temperatures. Historically, several different approaches have been used to estimate the actual daily mean temperature, as only in the last two or ...

Temperature gradient of ballastless track in large daily temperature difference region and its influence on dynamic responses of vehicle-track-bridge system

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2023
Due to the large daily temperature difference on the ultra-high altitude plateau of China, the actual vertical temperature gradient (TG) of ballastless track may exceed the design value in the Code. The temperature monitoring platform of the double-block

Regional estimation of daily to annual regional evapotranspiration with MODIS data in the Yellow River Delta wetland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Evapotranspiration (ET) from the wetland of the Yellow River Delta (YRD) is one of the important components in the water cycle, which represents the water consumption by the plants and evaporation from the water and the non-vegetated surfaces.

Physiological responses of ectotherms to daily temperature variation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Biology, 2015
Daily thermal fluctuations (DTF) impact the capacity of ectotherms to maintain performance and energetic demands due to thermodynamic effects on physiological processes. Mechanisms which reduce the thermal sensitivity of physiological traits may buffer ectotherms from the consequences of DTF.

Daily and seasonal changes in the surface temperature of fallow soil at Rothamsted [PDF]

open access: yes, 1943
A method of obtaining continuous records are discussed. The relations between surface and sub-surface temperatures are briefly considered, and then, in more detail, the inter-dependence of soil surface and air temperatures is examined. At all seasons the

Clouds' effects on daily temperature [PDF]

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 2013
Clouds reflect some incoming sunlight, tending to cool Earth's surface, but they also trap some heat leaving Earth's surface, causing warming. These effects, known as cloud radiative forcing, play a key role in temperature variations on Earth's surface and thus are important for climate modeling.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
