Characterization of wear damage in coatings by optical profilometry

Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, 1993
The accurate determination of the volume loss of plasma- sprayed coatings submitted to abrasive and erosive wear and the visualization of wear track or crater profiles are of major concern when ranking coatings, developing wear- resistant coatings, or identifying the mechanism responsible for failure.

Characterizing Microbial Diversity and Damage in Mural Paintings

Microscopy and Microanalysis, 2014
AbstractMural paintings are some of the oldest and most important cultural expressions of mankind and play an important role for the understanding of societies and civilizations. These cultural assets have high economic and cultural value and therefore their degradation has social and economic impact.

Smoke Characterization and Damage Potentials

2016
Smoke is a mixture of (1) particulates consisting of soot, semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC), and solid inorganic compounds; and (2) non-particulates consisting of very volatile organic compounds, volatile organic compounds, and liquid and gaseous inorganic compounds.

Radiation damage characterization of digital integrated circuits

2009 10th Latin American Test Workshop, 2009
A set of gates and registers was fabricated on a submicron CMOS process using radiation hardening by design techniques. The circuits were irradiated in a TANDEM accelerator with 10 MeV protons on three different doses. Off-line characterization of devices was carried out.

Characterization of Radiation-induced Damage in d(TpApCpG)

International Journal of Radiation Biology, 1990
The radiation chemistry of the oligomer d(TpApCpG) X-irradiated in aqueous solution containing glutathione was studied. Four products were isolated by HPLC and characterized by NMR spectroscopy. Two of the major products are isomers of a 5-hydroxy-5,6-dihydrothymine modification of d(TpApCpG). A dihydrothymine modification is also formed.

Characterization of the damage to membranes caused by bacterial cytolysins

Journal of Electron Microscopy, 1998
The damage to cell membranes caused by bacterial cytolysins has been studied for many years. In this review, we attempt to summarize the historical contribution of electron microscopy to our understanding of the modes of action of pore-forming and channel-forming toxins.

Micromechanical Characterization of Ductile Damage in DP Steel

Weight minimization triggered the automotive industry to introduce new advanced high strength steels that show ductile fracture by microvoid evolution under deformation, resulting in unexpected failure without significant necking. Therefore, an extensive study was initiated to gain insight on the formation and development of microstructural damage in ...
