α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

A phased array-based method for damage detection and localization in thin plates

open access: yes, 2009
A method for damage localization based on the phased array idea has been developed. Four arrays oftransducers are used to perform a beam-forming procedure.

An autonomous strain-based Structural Monitoring Framework for Life-Cycle Analysis of a Novel Structure

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2016
In recent years, developed societies have largely adopted smart systems operating on the basis of information extracted from data. For infrastructure systems as well, Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) has long advocated a data-driven scheme for ...

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Structural damage detection and localization using changes in phase angle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A technique to detect and locate damage by measuring the vibration response of a structure is presented. The technique uses measured phase angle between two measuring channels from the healthy structure as reference data, and then monitors vibration ...

Compressive sensing for structural damage detection of reinforced concrete structures

open access: yes, 2013
High energy consumption, excessive data storage and transfer requirements are prevailing issues associated with structural health monitoring (SHM) systems, especially with those employing wireless sensors.
