Cosine based and extended transmissibility damage indicators for structural damage detection

Engineering Structures, 2017
Abstract Structural damage detection using vibration-based techniques and transmissibility is investigated and proposed with elaborating the mathematical interrelationship between modal assurance criterion (MAC) and cosine similarity measure. From this interrelationship, two new damage indicators, namely cosine based indicator (CI) and extended ...

Detection of seismic structural damage using parameter-based global damage indices

Probabilistic Engineering Mechanics, 1990
The problem of detecting the onset of seismic structural damage is considered. A structure exhibits a nonlinear behaviour when it experiences an earthquake. Nonetheless a time variant equivalent structure can be defined. A global damage index can be defined from the vibrational parameters of the equivalent linear structure considered.

Damages indicators for post-earthquake condition assessment

Acta Geodaetica et Geophysica, 2013
After an earthquake, the condition of industrial systems, structures and equipment, especially at nuclear power plants has to be assessed since this information is needed for accident management and for the decision on the continuation of the operation.

Biomarkers: Monoclonal Protein and Indicators of Cardiac Damage

Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is a group of systemic disorders characterized by the deposition of abnormal protein fibrils in the heart, leading to progressive heart failure (HF) and poor prognosis. Early detection, accurate diagnosis, and effective risk stratification are critical for guiding treatment decisions and improving patient outcomes.

Trauma Laparotomy: Indications, Priorities, and Damage Control

2010
Ten to fifteen percent of all trauma patients admitted to hospital have life-threatening injuries, defined by an injury severity score (ISS) of more than 15. Most of these patients have extensive injuries that involve a number of organ systems. Injuries that cause destruction and deformity are easily recognized, while occult, life-threatening injuries ...

Machine Learning Vibration-Based Damage Detection and Early-Developed Damage Indicators

The vibration-based damage detection of structures has been an active topic among many research fields for, at least, the past four decades. In its early years, great effort has been devoted towards developing damage indicators computed from experimental data.
