Using Space Syntax For Estimation Of Potential Disaster Indirect Economic Losses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The study of applicable network measures shows that Normalised Angular Choice can be used as criteria for selecting alternatives for minimizing indirect costs caused by road network damages.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Have more strictly regulated banking systems fared better during the recent financial crisis? [PDF]

open access: yes
We assess whether during the recent financial crisis banking systems in countries with more stringent prudential banking regulation have proved more stable.

Determining Sustainable Development Density using the Urban Carrying Capacity Assessment System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Diverse urban problems in the capital region of Korea occur due to over-development and over-concentration which exceed the region’s carrying capacity.

An integrated approach to supply chain risk analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Despite the increasing attention that supply chain risk management is receiving by both researchers and practitioners, companies still lack a risk culture.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Creatine kinaza as transient muscular damage indicator: Analyzes and importance for technology of sports training [PDF]

open access: yesFizička Kultura, 2018
Previous research suggests that there is no single marker that would be sufficiently reliable indicator of muscle damage and overtraining. Monitoring several physiological indicators can lead to the desired response.

Quantitative analysis with plastic strain indicators to estimate damage induced by fault-slip

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2018
In the present study, methodologies to evaluate damage around an underground opening due to seismic waves arising from mining-induced fault-slip are examined.

Modeshapes recognition using Fourier descriptors: a simple SHM example [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The main objective of this study is to develop an alternative criterion for modeshape classification, as the currently available one, MAC (Modal Assurance Criteria), is only a vector correlation representing modeshape similarities.

Nucleosomes and neutrophil extracellular traps in septic and burn patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
NETosis is a host defense mechanism associated with inflammation and tissue damage. Experimental models show that platelets and von Willebrand factor (VWF) are key elements for intravascular NETosis. We determined NETosis in septic and burn patients at 1
