Damage mechanics with fabric tensors
Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2006A new formulation is presented to link continuum damage mechanics with the concept of fabric tensors within the framework of classical elasticity theory. A fourth-rank damage tensor is used and its exact relationship to the fabric tensors is illustrated. A model of damage mechanics for directional data is formulated using fabric tensors.

Experimental Glaucoma Damage Mechanism
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1983To the Editor. —In the JanuaryArchives(1983;101:94-97) Sossi and Anderson reported the results of an experiment on the mechanism of damage to cat optic nerve by intraocular pressure elevation of four hours, using the degree of axonal transport block as a measure of axonal injury. In some animals, BP was artificially lowered or raised to produce a wide

The mechanism of liposomal damage by taurocholate
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1987The stability of small unilamellar vesicles formed by egg-yolk phosphatidylcholine (PC) has been examined in the presence of sodium taurocholate. The permeability of the vesicular membrane changes as the total taurocholate concentration increases, until a transformation from mixed bile salt/PC vesicles to mixed micelles occurs.

Mechanism of cardiac damage in anoxia
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1959The following hypothesis is suggested to explain the mechanism of anoxic damage in cardiac tissue. Lactic acid accumulation, resulting from anoxia, overcomes the buffer capacity of the sarcoplasm. The consequent increased intracellular acidity leads to activation of proteolytic enzymes in the heart tissue and thus to destruction of apoenzyme protein ...

The Mechanism and Damage of Snail Trails
2018 IEEE 7th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC) (A Joint Conference of 45th IEEE PVSC, 28th PVSEC & 34th EU PVSEC), 2017We found Sulfur in EVA film which has snail trails by Atomic Absorption spectrometer, Sulfur reacted with “Ag” in silver paste. Because the EVA film can’t reach the requirements of PV yellowing test, people have to add high temperature anti-yellowing agent, such as mercaptan, sulfide, thioester.

On mechanical mechanism of damage evolution in articular cartilage
Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2017Superficial lesions of cartilage are the direct indication of osteoarthritis. To investigate the mechanical mechanism of cartilage with micro-defect under external loading, a new plain strain numerical model with micro-defect was proposed and damage evolution progression in cartilage over time has been simulated, the parameter were studied including ...

Characterization of Damaged Skin by Impedance Spectroscopy: Mechanical Damage
Pharmaceutical Research, 2013Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is a convenient method that has been used to characterize skin barrier function, which affects drug delivery into and through the skin. The objective of this study was to relate changes in skin barrier function arising from mechanical damage to changes in the impedance spectra. These observations are compared in a

Molecular mechanisms of muscle damage
1993Prior to the recognition that the protein dystrophin is missing in Duchenne dystrophy muscle and of abnormal size or reduced quantity in muscle from Becker dystrophy patients (Hoffman et al., 1987a), the assumption was made that recognition of the defective gene product(s) would lead to a rapid understanding of the manner in which this defect caused ...

Refractory Performance and Mechanism of Damage
2019This chapter deals with performance of Refractories in the Cement industry. The factors which determine the performance of Refractory are addressed in details. It shows that although Refractory quality is very important, the refractory performances depend only to a small extent on Refractory quality. The best quality refractory will not perform well if

Phototoxicity to the Retina: Mechanisms of Damage
International Journal of Toxicology, 2002Light damage to the retina occurs through three general mechanisms involving thermal, mechanical, or photochemical effects. The particular mechanism activated depends on the wavelength and exposure duration of the injuring light. The transitions between the various light damage mechanism may overlap to some extent.
