Selection of damage parameter – Art or science?

Mechanics of Materials, 1998
The present study concentrates on the formulation of a rational set of conditions that must be satisfied by all intensive (material) parameters and, therefore, by the damage parameter as well. This study considers the brittle response of materials with inferior cohesive strength on three different scales before concluding that the damage accumulation ...

Effects of Interacting Cavities on Damage Parameter

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1986
A numerical study is performed on the influence of interacting spherical cavities on the damage parameter. The material is isotropic, incompressible, power-law creeping. The results show that the nonlinearity of the material has a very small influence on the damage parameter. A simple formula is derived relating the damage parameter to the proximity of

Damage Detection Through Modal Parameters and Cepstral Coefficients

Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is any process that aims to assess the condition of a structural system using data from the monitored structure, so implementing a damage detection strategy. Since damage is defined as any permanent change to the structural or geometric properties of the system that affects its performance, it results in a variation ...
