Normal cells respond to DNA damage by halting the cell cycle and initiating DNA repair, thereby preventing accumulation of potentially serious genetic abnormalities. Several proteins are important in controlling DNA damage checkpoints, but details about how they cooperate have yet to be worked out.

Methods for Calculating Cartel Damages: A Survey [PDF]
Abstract The paper focuses on the various methods used to quantify cartel damages, which have become more and more important as private damage suits in the aftermath of antitrust litigation increase. The approaches implementation is embedded into current legal environments with regards to the estimation approaches being used for ...

Biomedicine Cellular macromolecules such as proteins, lipids, and DNA undergo an increase in oxidative damage with aging, and this damage can have a cascade effect. Oxidation of membrane lipids, for example, produces a reactive product called malondialdehyde (MDA), which can then form adducts ...

Survey For Magnetically Induced Plasma Membrane Damage
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992An in vitro study using the N1E-115 neuroblastoma cell line was performed to determine whether cell membrane damage occurs during magnetic stimulation. Trypan Blue stain and Fluorescein Isothiocyanate (FITC) dextran uptake was used as an indicator of increased permeability. No acute effects were found.

Bushfire Building Damage Survey - a NSW Perspective
The Proceedings of the Royal Society of Queensland, 2009Bushfires have damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings in rural and urban interface areas within NSW for the last decade. These devastating bushfires have taught us many important lessons about bushfire causes and building damage mechanisms. One of these important lessons is that post fire building damage survey is an effective means for studying ...

Survey and Evaluation of Damaged Concrete Bridges
Journal of Bridge Engineering, 2000It is well known that the U.S. bridge inventory stands in need of repair. For a rational allocation of U.S. investment resources to bridge maintenance, life cycle cost and probabilistic methods must be used. This requires a quantitative estimate of the remaining strength over the intended lifespan for a given bridge.

Flood Damage Survey and Assessment
2017Several scholars across the globe identified the present lack of high quality damage data as the main constraint to efficient risk mitigation. The need for a systematic collection of damage data in the aftermath of flood events come into light, thus the aim being the creation of complete and reliable databases.

Flood Depth—Damage Curves By Interview Survey
Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management, 1988Results of interview surveys for potential flood damages are used to develop depth—damage curves for structural and content groupings and alternative residence types. Statistical significance tests are used to collapse 28 structural categories into seven basic groups.
