Photocathode Behavior During High Current Running in the Cornell ERL Photoinjector

open access: yes, 2011
The Cornell University Energy Recovery Linac (ERL) photoinjector has recently demonstrated operation at 20 mA for approximately 8 hours, utilizing a multialkali photocathode deposited on a Si substrate. We describe the recipe for photocathode deposition,

Macro- and micro-modeling of crack propagation in encapsulation-based self-healing materials : application of XFEM and cohesive surface techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Encapsulation-based materials are produced introducing some small healing fluid-filled capsules in a matrix. These materials can self-heal when internal cracks intercept and break the capsules.

Sensitivity to Damage of the Forced Frequencies of a Simply Supported Beam Subjected to a Moving Quarter-Car [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The vibration of bridges under operational conditions can be measured via accelerometers to extract their dynamic features. These features can then be monitored in time, although only a reduced number of cause-effect scenarios can be verified on the field.

Designed Liquid Crystalline Nanoassemblies From Clinically Validated Polyunsaturated Lipids for Combined Antioxidant, Anti‐Apoptotic, and Neurotrophic Treatments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ionizable lipid nanoparticles target multiple pathological pathways in neurodegeneration. The designed self‐assembled materials undergo a pH‐triggered structural transformation from a cubosome/hexosome coexistence to a hexosome phase, enhancing intracellular delivery of a multi‐target phytochemical formulation. The antioxidant‐loaded pH‐responsive LNPs

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Structural damage identification using mathematical optimization techniques [PDF]

open access: yes
An identification procedure is proposed to identify damage characteristics (location and size of the damage) from dynamic measurements. This procedure was based on minimization of the mean-square measure of difference between measurement data (natural ...

Critical speeds in damaged beam - moving oscillator interaction: the importance of inertial effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper investigates the inertial effects of the passage of a moving oscillator over a single span simply supported damaged Euler Bernoulli beam for a range of speeds of the moving oscillator and a range of damage conditions.

Strain Engineering of Magnetoresistance and Magnetic Anisotropy in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biaxial compressive strain significantly enhances magnetoresistance and critical saturation fields in thin flakes of the 2D magnet CrSBr, along all three crystallographic axes. First‐principles calculations link these effects to strain‐induced increases in exchange interactions and magnetic anisotropy.
