On the Theory of the Acceleration Damper
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1956Abstract The acceleration damper reduces the vibration of a mechanical system through momentum transfer by collision and conversion of mechanical energy into heat. A typical unit consists of a mass particle moving in a container fixed to the primary vibrating system.

ABSTRACT A vibration damper assembly for use in a torsional coupling between a driving member and a driven member wherein the damper assembly provides for a very low rate, high amplitude deflection. The vibration damper includes a hub to be received on a driven shaft, two or more groups of springs having multiple springs of the came or various ...

A stay cable with viscous damper and tuned mass damper
Australian Journal of Structural Engineering, 2015AbstractStay cables in cable-stayed bridges are vulnerable to dynamic excitation because their intrinsic damping is very low. The cables have often been exhibiting undesirable and excessive vibrations which result in increasing maintenance frequency and disruption to normal operations of the entire bridges.

A new type of vibration damper for rotor systems has been developed and tested. The damper contains electroviscous fluid which solidifies and provides Coulomb damping when an electric voltage is imposed across the fluid. The damping capacity is controlled by the voltage.

Magnetorheological damper design to improve vibration mitigation under a volume constraint
Smart materials and structures (Print), 2019Recently, much research has focused on magnetorheological (MR) dampers because of their high reliability, low power requirements, and fast response. When MR dampers are used in a base excited vibration isolation system, large damping forces are used to ...

Damper modeling for dynamic simulation of a large bus with MR damper
International Journal of Automotive Technology, 2011In this study, a large bus is tested to measure its dynamic response by the single-lane change test and the rapid stop test. A full car model is established by ADAMS/Car for computer simulation. For multibody modeling of a large bus, user-defined templates are used in the simulation.
