A Review of Nonsteroidal Anti‐Inflammatory Drugs for Food‐Producing Animals With a Focus on Potential Applications for Farmed Finfish

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 49, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT In finfish aquaculture, there are several inflammatory diseases impacting productivity and animal welfare, however there are limited options available to veterinarians to treat inflammation and pain in fish. Nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used in terrestrial animals raised for human consumption to treat a range of ...

Estrogen/Esr2b signaling‐dependent, female‐biased expression of a neuropeptide Y gene in the medaka brain

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, Volume 38, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract A recent study showed that female medaka lacking the estrogen receptor gene esr2b are unreceptive to male courtship and instead court other females. In this study, we investigated the brain transcriptome of esr2b‐deficient females to explore the underlying mechanisms of this behavioral phenotype, and identified npyb, one of the two ...

Dietary supplementation with Kelussia odoratissima extract improves growth performance and modulates intestinal cytokine‐related gene expression in zebrafish (Danio rerio)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 5, October 2026.
Abstract Kelussia odoratissima (wild celery) is an endemic medicinal plant containing diverse bioactive phytochemicals; however, its potential as a dietary additive in fish has not previously been investigated. This study evaluated the effects of dietary hydroethanolic K.

Effects of Sucrose and Trehalose Supplementation on Zebrafish (Danio rerio) Sperm Quality During Cold Storage

open access: yesReproduction in Domestic Animals, Volume 61, Issue S3, October 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effect of disaccharide supplementation on zebrafish sperm stored at 5°C for 24 h. Seven pooled replicates from 60 broodfish were used. Semen samples were initially cooled and, after 1 h, supplemented with either HBSS (E‐C), Sucrose 0.13M (E‐S13), Trehalose 0.13M (E‐T13) or Trehalose 0.26M (E‐T26).
