Fishy deals: Francesc Darder and transnational fish farming around 1900

In 1909, under the direction of Francesc Darder, the “Laboratori ictiogènic” was inaugurated at the Barcelona Zoo. Its purpose was to breed different species fish -both native and exotic-, that would then serve to “repopulate” Catalan rivers and lakes.
