Syn- and post-depositional influences on reservoir quality of the Aptian Dariyan Formation, eastern Persian Gulf

Petroleum Geoscience
The Aptian Dariyan (Shuaiba) Formation, a major Cretaceous reservoir in the Middle East, remains poorly understood regarding the influence of depositional facies and diagenetic processes on reservoir quality. This research addresses the gap through an integrated analysis of facies, petrophysics and geochemistry on a continuous, 104.5 m-long core from ...

Planktonic Foraminifera of the Dariyan formation and implications of Oceanic Anoxic Event 1a

2015
The investigated section cropping out in Kuh-e-Banesh, Zagros basin (southern Iran) is represented by limestone, Cherty beds and marllevels bearing abundant Planktonic foraminifers, radiolarian microfaunas, and ammonite imprints. For the first time, well to moderatelypreserved forms of Planktonic foraminifera have been extracted from black shale and ...

Nezzazata praesimplex sp. nov. and Nezzazata praegyra sp. nov. from the Aptian Dariyan Formation of SW Iran and the origin of the Nezzazatidae (Foraminifera)

The new species Nezzazata praesimplex and Nezzazata praegyra are described from the upper lower-upper Aptian Dariyan Formation of SW Iran. The differences to other, mostly Cenomanian species of Nezzazata are discussed in detail. The Aptian species can be considered as small-sized homeomorphs of the Cenomanian taxa N. simplex Omara and N. gr.
