Chilling stress applied to broccoli transplants of different age affects yield of the plants cultivated in summer

open access: yesHorticultural Science, 2014
Broccoli is native to moderate climatic zone, and summer cultivation of this species in Central Europe conditions leads to a decrease of heads quality.

Les meubles médiévaux aux xviiie et xixe siècles : entre dédain et vision romantique

open access: yesPerspectives Médiévales, 2020
The Middle Ages has, since the Renaissance period, been considered a poor, dark and uninteresting time. Pieces of furniture have thus been judged boorish, without delicacy or interest. 18th c.

Constraints on holographic dark energy models using the differential ages of passively evolving galaxies

open access: yes, 2007
Using the absolute ages of passively evolving galaxies observed at different redshifts, one can obtain the differential ages, the derivative of redshift $z$ with respect to the cosmic time $t$ (i.e. ${\rm d} z/{\rm d}t$). Thus, the Hubble parameter $H(z)$

Comparative activity of dimethyl fumarate derivative IDMF in three models relevant to multiple sclerosis and psoriasis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IDMF is a derivative of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) with a unique therapeutic potential at the intersection of psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. Here, we demonstrate that it compares favorably with DMF and its other derivatives, such as Diroximel, in the zebrafish, microglia, and lymphocyte models.

Constraining the unexplored period between reionization and the dark ages with observations of the global 21 cm signal

open access: yes, 2010
Observations of the frequency dependence of the global brightness temperature of the redshifted 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen may be possible with single dipole experiments.

Tryptophan‐sensing receptor GPR142 expression levels are directly regulated by proinflammatory cytokines in ghrelin‐producing cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GPR142, a tryptophan‐sensing receptor, stimulates gastrointestinal hormones like ghrelin and is linked to inflammation regulation. Proinflammatory cytokines suppress ghrelin production, while tryptophan levels decrease via IDO1 activation. Our findings reveal that proinflammatory cytokines directly regulate GPR142 expression in ghrelin‐producing cells,

Reconciling the cosmic age problem in the R_h=ct Universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Many dark energy models fail to pass the cosmic age test. In this paper, we investigate the cosmic age problem associated with nine extremely old Global Clusters (GCs) and the old quasar APM $08279+5255$ in the $R_h=ct$ Universe. The age data of these oldest GCs in M31 is acquired from the Beijing-Arizona-Taiwan-Connecticut system with up-to-date ...

A potential tumor suppressor role of PLK2 in glioblastoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PLK2 was consistently downregulated in GBM tissues. Overexpression of PLK2 in GBM cell lines U87MG and U251 reduced their tumorigenic potential and enhanced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Suggesting that PLK2 overexpression could potentially be leveraged as a therapeutic strategy to inhibit tumor progression and enhance apoptosis, providing new ...

Dark energy gravitational wave observations and ice age periodicity

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
Dark Energy is the dominant component of the energy density of the Universe. However, it is also very elusive since its interaction with the rest of the Universe is primarily gravitational.

A Next Generation Deep 2 micron Survey: Reconnoitering the Dark Ages

open access: yes, 2011
The next generation 2 micron sky survey should target nascent galaxies in the epoch of reionization for spectroscopic followup on large telescopes. A 2.5 metre telescope at a site on the antarctic plateau has advantages for this purpose and for southern ...
