Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Density Estimation of Fog in Image Based on Dark Channel Prior

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
This paper proposes a method and an original index for the estimation of fog density using images or videos. The proposed method had the advantages of convenient operation and low costs for applications in automatic driving and environmental monitoring ...

The dark matter halo shape of edge-on disk galaxies - II. Modelling the HI observations: methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This is the second paper of a series in which we attempt to put constraints on the flattening of dark halos in disk galaxies. For this purpose, we observe the HI in edge-on galaxies, where it is in principle possible to measure the force field in the ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Removal of fog from hazy images and their restoration

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences
The prominent reason behind road accidents during the winter season is the presence of fog in the environment. Other important reasons for the degradation of visibility are haze, smog, clouds and rain.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Patch-Wise Blind Image Deblurring Via Michelson Channel Prior

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Motion blur exists in many computer vision tasks, including faces, texts, and low-illumination images etc. It has been proved that Dark Channel Prior (DCP) and Bright Channel Prior (BCP) can both help the image deblurring by enhancing the dark or bright ...

A remote‐sensing image enhancement algorithm based on patch‐wise dark channel prior and histogram equalisation with colour correction

open access: yesIET Image Processing, 2021
The object identification within an image captured during rough weather conditions (such as haze, fog) poses difficulty due to the reduction of an image. The rough weather conditions lead not only to the variation of the image's visual effect but also to

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
