Dark matter caustics in galaxy clusters [PDF]

open access: greenPhysics Letters B, 2009
We interpret the recent gravitational lensing observations of Jee et al. \cite{Jee} as first evidence for a {\it caustic} ring of dark matter in a galaxy cluster. A caustic ring unavoidably forms when a cold collisionless flow falls with net overall rotation in and out of a gravitational potential well.

Analytical Approximations to Galaxy Clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We discuss some recent progress in constructing analytic approximations to the galaxy clustering. We show that successful models can be constructed for the clustering of both dark matter and dark matter haloes.

Simulating Atomic Dark Matter in Milky Way Analogs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
Dark sector theories naturally lead to multicomponent scenarios for dark matter where a subcomponent can dissipate energy through self-interactions, allowing it to efficiently cool inside galaxies.

The cosmological constant derived via galaxy groups and clusters

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2019
The common nature of dark matter and dark energy is argued in Gurzadyan (Eur Phys J Plus 134:14, 2019) based on the approach that the cosmological constant $$\varLambda $$ Λ enters the weak-field General Relativity following from Newton theorem on the ...

Formation of Transitional cE/UCD Galaxies through Massive/Dwarf Disc Galaxy Mergers

open access: yesGalaxies, 2023
The dynamics of the merger of a dwarf disc galaxy with a massive spiral galaxy of the Milky Way type were studied in detail. The remnant of such interaction after numerous crossings of the satellite through the disc of the main galaxy was a compact ...

PossibleExistence of Dark-Matter-Admixed Pulsar in the Disk Region of the Milky Way Galaxy

open access: yesUniverse, 2022
In our previous study, (Eur Phys J Plus 135:362, 2020 & Eur Phys J Plus 135:637, 2020), we have discussed the possible existence of the dark-matter-admixed pulsars, located in dwarf as well as in massive spiral galaxies (based on Singular Isothermal ...

Dark Matter in Spiral Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1995
In this review I will concentrate on three questions concerning the issue of dark matter in spiral galaxies. In the first place (and for the most part) I will discuss the analysis of rotation curves and the question whether the “maximum–disk hypothesis” is valid.

Dark matter and generation of galactic magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A new scenario for creation of galactic magnetic fields is proposed which is operative at the cosmological epoch of the galaxy formation, and which relies on unconventional properties of dark matter. Namely, it requires existence of feeble but long range

Dark matter and galaxy formation [PDF]

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, 2005
AbstractDark matter presents a challenge for gravitational theory. It is best attacked in two ways; by studying the confrontation of structure formation with observation and by direct and indirect searches. In this review, I will focus on those aspects of dark matter that are relevant for understanding galaxy formation, and describe the outlook for ...

Dark Galaxies in the A1367 Galaxy Cluster

open access: yes, 2021
We have characterized a sample of extended X-ray sources in the A1367 galaxy cluster that lack optical counterparts. The sources are galaxy size and have an average total mass of $1.3\times10^{11}$ solar masses. The average hot gas mass is $3.0\times10^{9}$ solar masses and the average X-ray luminosity is $4.3\times10^{41}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1 ...
