Mechanical and Microstructural Effects of ZrO2 Nanoparticles in Fe20Cr Oxide Dispersion‐Strengthened Alloys Processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of oxide nanoparticle synthesis route and concentration on microstructure and high‐temperature performance of additively manufactured oxide dispersion‐strengthened steels is investigated. Comparing laser‐generated and chemically synthesized ZrO2 nanoparticles, the study reveals how dispersion quality, crystal structure and particle size ...

Effects of Galactic Environment on Size and Dark Matter Content in Low-mass Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We utilize the cosmological volume simulation FIREbox to investigate how a galaxy’s environment influences its size and dark matter content. Our study focuses on approximately 1200 galaxies (886 central and 332 satellite halos) in the low-mass regime ...

Leptonic new force and cosmic-ray boosted dark matter for the XENON1T excess

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
The recently reported excess in XENON1T is explained by new leptonic forces, which are free from gauge anomalies. We focus on two scenarios with and without dark matter. In Scenario #1, the gauge boson of gauged lepton number U(1)Le−Lj, j=μ or τ provides

THE SPACE MOTION OF LEO I: THE MASS OF THE MILKY WAY'S DARK MATTER HALO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We combine our Hubble Space Telescope measurement of the proper motion of the Leo I dwarf spheroidal galaxy (presented in a companion paper) with the highest resolution numerical simulations of Galaxy-size dark matter halos in existence to constrain the ...

Population III Star Formation in a Lambda WDM Universe

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper we examine aspects of primordial star formation in a gravitino warm dark matter universe with a cosmological constant. We compare a set of simulations using a single cosmological realization but with a wide range of warm dark matter ...

Preparation and Thermal Modification of Disentangled Ultrahigh‐Molecular‐Weight Polyethylene Particles for Powder‐Based Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrahigh‐molecular‐weight polyethylene powders (<≈40 μm) with a bulk density of 260 g L−1 are prepared from a silica supported bisimine pyridine iron catalyst. The nascent product is disentangled and can be thermally densified without loss of its low viscosity.

Microlensing and Halo Cold Dark Matter

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1995
We discuss the implications of the more than 50 microlensing events seen by the EROS, MACHO, and OGLE collaborations for the composition of the halo of our galaxy. The event rates indicate that the halo mass fraction in MACHO's is less than 30\%, consistent with expectations for a universe whose primary component is cold dark matter.

Dissipative dark matter halos: The steady state solution

open access: yes, 2018
Dissipative dark matter, where dark matter particle properties closely resemble familiar baryonic matter, is considered. Mirror dark matter, which arises from an isomorphic hidden sector, is a specific and theoretically constrained scenario.

Key Trends and Insights in Smart Polymeric Skin Wearable Patches

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent polymers, which respond to various physical and biological stimuli, are explored for the development of skin wearable patches in biomedical applications. Smart polymers, also known as intelligent or stimuli‐responsive polymers, play a crucial role in the development of advanced wearable patches due to their versatility and softness.

The Shape of Dark Matter Halos

open access: yes, 1999
Techniques for inferring the radial and geometric form of dark matter halos and the results they have produced to date are reviewed. Dark halos appear to extend to at least ~50 kpc with total enclosed masses that rise linearly with radius R. Whether this behavior can be extrapolated to distances as large as 200 kpc and beyond is controversial; results ...
