The dark web trades wildlife, but mostly for use as drugs

open access: yesPeople and Nature, 2023
Contemporary wildlife trade is massively facilitated by the Internet. By design, the dark web is one layer of the Internet that is difficult to monitor and continues to lack thorough investigation.

Dark Matter Halo Properties vs. Local Density and Cosmic Web Location [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We study the effects of the local environmental density and the cosmic web environment (filaments, walls, and voids) on key properties of dark matter halos using the Bolshoi-Planck LCDM cosmological simulation.

Holographic vortices in the presence of dark matter sector [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The {\it dark matter} seem to be an inevitable ingredient of the total matter configuration in the Universe and the knowledge how the {\it dark matter} affects the properties of superconductors is of vital importance for the experiments aimed at its ...

Cosmic web alignments with the shape, angular momentum and peculiar velocities of dark matter haloes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the alignment of dark matter haloes with the cosmic web characterized by the tidal and velocity shear fields. We focus on the alignment of their shape, angular momentum and peculiar velocities. We use a cosmological N-body simulation that allows

The structure of spiral galaxies: radial profiles in stellar Mass-to-Light ratio and the Dark Matter distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The colour and metallicity gradients observed in spiral galaxies suggest that the mass-to-light ratio (M*/L) of the stellar disc is a function of radius. This is indeed predicted by chemo-photometric models of galactic discs.

Balancing freedom of expression and social responsibility on the internet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper reflects on the articles submitted for the Symposium Confronting the Internet’s Dark Side. I discuss some of the criticisms of the book’s theory and my treatment of hate speech. The responsibilities of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Web-

The Role of the Dark Web in the Crime and Terrorism Nexus

open access: yesThe Journal of Intelligence, Conflict and Warfare, 2019
On November 15, 2018, the Canadian Association for Security and Intelligence Studies (CASIS) Vancouver hosted its tenth roundtable meeting which covered “The Role of the dark web in the Crime and Terrorism Nexus.” The presentation was hosted by Dr ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Dark Side of the Neutron?

open access: yes, 2018
We discuss our recently proposed interpretation of the discrepancy between the bottle and beam neutron lifetime experiments as a sign of a dark sector. The difference between the outcomes of the two types of measurements is explained by the existence of ...
