Armadillos Order Cingulata, Family Dasypodidae
2009Abstract Armadillos were included in the same order with anteaters and sloths, but are now treated as a separate order (Gardner, 2005). There are 9 genera and about 21 species of armadillos, most of which are restricted to South America. Two species occur in Central America and SE Mexico.
