Dasypus mexicanus Peters, 1864 Mexican Long-nosed Armadillo Recent evidence has shown that the Mexican Long-nosed Armadillo, Dasypus mexicanus, is one species of a complex of four that previously were recognized as Dasypus novemcinctus, the Nine-banded Armadillo (Barthe et al. 2024).
