The lymphatic system of Dasypus novemcinctus and Dasypus sexcinctus
Journal of Morphology, 1965AbstractThe lymphatic system of 40 specimens of Dasypus novemcinctus and 5 of Dasypus sexcinctus, both found in Brazil, were injected with Prussian blue suspension, neoprene latex (followed by partial corrosion). Lymphangioradiographic study was also made. The data concern the lymph nodes, the lymphatic networks, vessels and main trunks.

The chromosomes of the nine-banded armadillo, Dasypus novemcinctus
Chromosoma, 1962The chromosomes of the nine-banded armadillo, Dasypus novemcinctus, were studied using cultured peripheral leukocytes, tissue cells and direct preparation of male germ cells. The diploid number was found to be 64 in the blood and tissue cells, the haploid number was 32 in the testicular preparations.

LEPROSY IN ARMADILLOS (DASYPUS NOVEMCINCTUS) FROM TEXAS
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1987Tissue sections from 237 nine-banded armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus) from 51 central Texas counties were examined microscopically for acid-fast bacilli and/or lesions of leprosy. Neither were found. A review of the literature relative to the incidence of leprosy from armadillos in Texas indicates that residents of counties along the Texas Gulf Coast ...

Neocortical projections to the mesencephalon of the armadillo, dasypus novemcinctus
Brain Research, 1970Abstract The results of this study indicate a definite pattern of neocortical projections to the mesencephalon in the nine-banded armadillo. This pattern closely parallels that described for certain other mammals, but differs in certain specifics. Degenerating fibers resulting from a lesion of the mid-presupraorbital neocortex assumed a position ...

Observations on the sense of taste in the armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus)
Animal Behaviour, 1967Summary The armadillo was observed to be indifferent to solutions preferred by many other species and described by man as ‘sweet’ (saccharin and sucrose). Furthermore, these animals avoided maltose, a sugar which is selected by rats, dogs and man. They were also found to be indifferent to quinine hydrochloride at a concentration which is rejected by ...

Epithalamus of the nine-banded armadillo, Dasypus novemcinctus
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part A: Physiology, 1986The epithalamus of embryonic, neonatal and adult nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus) was examined for evidence of pineal-like tissue. The evagination of the diencephalic roof (the anlage of the epiphysis) was not found in any embryonic specimens.

Role of the armadillo Dasypus novemcinctus in the epidemiology of paracoccidioidomycosis
Mycopathologia, 1998A study conducted in a rural area of Ibiá, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where Paracoccidioides brasiliensis was recently isolated from soil, sought to determine if the armadillo Dasypus novemcinctus developed paracoccidioidomycosis. Out of 21 armadillos captured in the area, one had a lung granuloma containing fungal cells attributable to those of P.
