The Riversleigh World Heritage Area provides Australia’s most extensive fossil record of dasyuromorphian marsupials, encompassing 17 out of the 26 Oligo-Miocene species (25–5.3 Ma) known. This includes eight thylacinids (Thylacinidae), three malleodectids (Malleodectidae), and six dasyuromorphians of uncertain taxonomic placement.
