Growth form, regeneration mode, and vegetation type explain leaf trait variability at the species and community levels in Mediterranean woody vegetation. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
We found a large amount of leaf trait variability within and among species in Mediterranean plant communities. However, functional groups (resprouting ability, regeneration strategy, growth form) and vegetation type still accounted for a significant part of this variability.

Bacterial adaptation to cold: Conservation of a short J‐domain co‐chaperone and its protein partners in environmental proteobacteria

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 25, Issue 11, Page 2447-2464, November 2023., 2023
AtcJ is a short J‐domain protein essential for cold growth in S. oneidensis, conserved in environmental β‐ and γ‐proteobacteria, and encoded in an operon along with its protein partners AtcA, AtcB, and AtcC. The AtcJ superfamily contains a conserved PX7W motif whose Trp ensures the high affinity of the AtcJ–AtcC interaction, which is crucial for growth
