Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Generic solutions for data-limited fishery assessments are not so simple

open access: yesFish and Fisheries, 2018
The majority of the world's fisheries, by number, are data‐poor/limited, and there is a growing body of literature pertaining to approaches to estimate data‐limited stock status.

That’s All I Know: Inferring the Status of Extremely Data-Limited Stocks

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2020
There is a growing number of methods to assess data-limited stocks. However, most of these methods require at least some basic data, such as commercial catches and life history information.

Reconstruction of Recreational Catch and Multi-Fisheries Stock Assessment of Hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus) in Korean Waters Under a Data-Limited Situation

open access: yesFishes
Accurate catch data are essential for effective fisheries management. This study reconstructs the historical recreational catch of hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus) in Korean waters by incorporating unreported catches to improve stock assessment accuracy ...

Overcoming the data limitations in landslide susceptibility modeling

open access: yesScience Advances
Data-driven models widely used for assessing landslide susceptibility are severely limited by the landslide and environmental data needed to create them. They rely on inventories of past landslide locations, which are difficult to collect and often nonrepresentative.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
