CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Device-Centric Sensing: An Alternative to Data-Centric Approaches

IEEE Systems Journal, 2017
© 2007-2012 IEEE. When pieces of information originate from the physical world through the sensing infrastructure, there is a pressing need to cope with the overhead and inherent limitations lying in merely shifting huge amounts of aggregated data across the net.

Comparing model-centric and data-centric approaches to determine the efficiency of data-centric AI

Journal of Emerging Investigators, 2023
In current machine learning approaches, data is crucial, yet it is often overlooked and mishandled in artificial intelligence (AI). As a result, many hours are wasted fine-tuning a model based on faulty data. Hence, there exists a new trend in AI, which is data-centric AI.

Data-centric security

Proceedings of the eleventh ACM symposium on Access control models and technologies - SACMAT '06, 2006
In J2EE and .NET roles are assigned to methods using external configuration files, called the deployment descriptors. Assigning roles to methods, although conceptually simple, in practice it is quite complicated. For instance, in order for a deployer to assign a role r to a method m, the deployer must understand the set of roles R that are assigned to ...

Data-Centric Automated Data Mining

Fourth International Conference on Machine Learning and Applications (ICMLA'05), 2006
Data mining is a difficult task. It requires complex methodologies, including problem definition, data preparation, model selection, and model evaluation. This has limited the adoption of data mining at large and in the database and business intelligence (BI) communities more specifically.
