Multicentre Harmonisation of a Six-Colour Flow Cytometry Panel for Naïve/Memory T Cell Immunomonitoring

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2020
Background. Personalised medicine in oncology needs standardised immunological assays. Flow cytometry (FCM) methods represent an essential tool for immunomonitoring, and their harmonisation is crucial to obtain comparable data in multicentre clinical ...

Elucidating salient site-specific functional connectivity features and site-invariant biomarkers in schizophrenia via deep neural networks

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Schizophrenia is a highly heterogeneous disorder and salient functional connectivity (FC) features have been observed to vary across study sites, warranting the need for methods that can differentiate between site-invariant FC biomarkers and site ...

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

The heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HAT) of the SLC7/SLC3 family: A structure−function relationships and relevance to human pathology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

Profiling neoadjuvant therapy response in rectal cancer using meta‐analysis of publicly available transcriptomic RNA‐seq datasets

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates publicly available transcriptomic datasets to identify molecular signatures associated with response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy in locally advanced rectal cancer. By analyzing a combination of multiple cohorts with bioinformatics approaches, we reveal biological pathways and immune‐related features that may improve ...

Gut microbiota alterations in patients with non‐small‐cell lung cancer undergoing chemoradiotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigated the impact of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on the gut microbiota in patients with locally advanced non‐small‐cell lung cancer. Overall gut microbiota composition remained largely stable throughout CRT while antibiotic exposure may influence microbial diversity.

Exploring the influence of lactoferrin on wound healing and related signaling pathways: a systematic review

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lactoferrin promotes wound healing by activating MAPK, PI3K/Akt, and extracellular matrix pathways, enhancing fibroblast remodeling, proliferation, and re‐epithelialization. These mechanisms highlight its therapeutic potential in inflammation control, tissue repair, and remodeling.

Using Semantic Distance to Support Geometric Harmonisation of Cadastral and Topographical Data [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2014
In the context of geo-data infrastructures users may want to combine data from different sources and expect consistent data. If both datasets are maintained separately, different capturing methods and intervals leads to inconsistencies in geometry and ...
