A Dynamic Data-throttling Approach to Minimize Workflow Imbalance

open access: yesACM Transactions on Internet Technology, 2019
Scientific workflows enable scientists to undertake analysis on large datasets and perform complex scientific simulations. These workflows are often mapped onto distributed and parallel computational infrastructures to speed up their executions. Prior to its execution, a workflow structure may suffer transformations to accommodate the computing ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Patch-Based Semantically Enhanced Network for IR Dim and Small Targets Background Suppression

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
The task of background suppression in infrared small-target scenarios aims to eliminate irregular noisy backgrounds while preserving targets with high-frequency features.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Data Level Approach for Multiclass Imbalance Financial Data

open access: yesWSEAS TRANSACTIONS ON COMPUTERS, 2020
In the real world, the class imbalance problem is a common issue in which classifier gives more importance to the majority class whereas less importance to the minority class. In class imbalance, imbalance metrics would not be suitable to evaluate the performance of classifiers with error rate or predictive accuracy.

Enhancing Predictive Accuracy in Medical Data Through Oversampling and Interpolation Techniques

open access: yesMathematics
Class imbalance is a major challenge in supervised classification, often leading to biased predictions and limited generalization. This issue is particularly pronounced in medical diagnostics, where datasets typically contain far more negative than ...
