Drug Discovery Today, 2008
Pharmaceutical R&D organizations have no shortage of experimental data or annotation information. However, the sheer volume and complexity of this information results in a paralyzing inability to make effective use of it for predicting drug efficacy and safety. Data integration efforts are legion, but even in the rare instances where they succeed, they

The Journal of School Nursing, 2005
School nurses and health office staff have an ethical and legal obligation to protect the integrity of electronic student health records. Various sources, both accidental and malicious, can threaten student health data. School nurses must employ regular and reliable methods to back up student health data.

The growth of the Internet has simplified data access, which has involved an increment in the creation of new data sources. Despite this increment, in most cases, these large data repositories are accessed manually. This problem is aggravated by the heterogeneous nature and extreme volatility of the information on the Web.

Proceedings of the twenty-first ACM SIGMOD-SIGACT-SIGART symposium on Principles of database systems, 2002
Data integration is the problem of combining data residing at different sources, and providing the user with a unified view of these data. The problem of designing data integration systems is important in current real world applications, and is characterized by a number of issues that are interesting from a theoretical point of view.

At present, many information sources are available wherever you are. Most of the time, the information needed is spread across several of those information sources. Gathering this information is a tediousand time consuming job, automating this process would assist the user in its task.

This chapter discusses cryptographic mechanisms for providing data integrity. We begin by identifying different levels of data integrity that can be provided. We then look in detail at hash functions, explaining the different security properties that they have, as well as presenting several different applications of a hash function.
