Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Yeast Gcn2 retains activity following humanization of its auto‐phosphorylation region
Using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model to study Gcn2 activation and regulation is limited by the lack of antibodies detecting phosphorylated Gcn2. To overcome this, we engineered Gcn2‐HsC, a yeast Gcn2 variant recognizable by commercial anti‐human phospho‐GCN2 antibodies.

The Big Data era is upon us: data is being generated, collected and analyzed at an unprecedented scale, and data-driven decision making is sweeping through society. Since the value of data explodes when it can be linked and fused with other data, addressing the big data integration (BDI) challenge is critical to realizing the promise of Big Data.

Abstraction in Data Integration
2021 36th Annual ACM/IEEE Symposium on Logic in Computer Science (LICS), 2021Data integration provides a unified and abstract view over a set of existing data sources. The typical architecture of a data integration system comprises the global schema, which is the structure for the unified view, the source schema, and the mapping, which is a formal account of how data at the sources relate to the global view.

We are witnessing the widespread adoption of deep learning techniques as avant-garde solutions to different computational problems in recent years. In data integration, the use of deep learning techniques has helped establish several state-of-the-art results in long standing problems, including information extraction, entity matching, data cleaning ...

Integration Integrity for Multigranular Data
2016When data from several source schemata are to be integrated, it is essential that the resulting data in the global schema be consistent. This problem has been studied extensively for the monogranular case, in which all domains are flat. However, data involving spatial and/or temporal attributes are often represented at different levels of granularity ...

Data integration is the problem of combining data residing at different sources, and providing the user with a unified view of these data. The problem of designing data integration systems is important in current real world applications, and is characterized by a number of issues that are interesting from a theoretical point of view.

Mashup is a new application development approach that allows users to aggregate multiple services to create a service for a new purpose. Even if the Mashup approach opens new and broader opportunities for data/service consumers, the development process still requires the users to know not only how to write code using programming languages, but also how
