Data management plans and data management costs

open access: yes, 2023
The demands of Open Science increase the responsibilities of researchers, for example writing a data management plan. In this seminar, we will invite an expert from GESIS to address this topic by first outlining the benefits and the costs of Open Science, then focus on data management plans and data management plan tools available.

Data Management [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Abstract Chapter 3 discusses methods to manage data in our quest to exploit data parallelism for performance gains. It introduces Unified Shared Memory (USM) and the higher-level buffer abstraction and explores when to use each method to manage the data in our accelerated programs.

An information system for integrated land and water resources management in the Kara River basin (Togo and Benin) [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Database Management Systems (IJDMS) Vol.7, No.1, February 2015, 2015
A prerequisite for integrated land and water resources management (ILWRM) is a holistic river basin assessment. The latter requires information and data from different scientific disciplines but also appropriate data management systems to store and manage historical and real time data, set up protocols that facilitate data and information access and ...

Research data management [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Medical Library Association : JMLA, 2015
Management of research data is a service area of increasing interest to libraries. Librarians have begun to provide a range of services in this area and now teach data management to researchers, work with individual researchers to improve their data management practices, create data management subject guides, and assist in supporting funding agency and

Combining transient dynamics and logistic‐asymptotic growth to study the recovery of two seabird populations after rat eradication

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examines the demographic dynamics of two seabird populations on Tromelin Island, 15 years after the eradication of brown rats. The results indicate that these populations are in good health and are expected to continue growing until breeding sites are saturated in about a century.

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...
