Data Quality and Explainable AI

open access: yesACM Journal of Data and Information Quality, 2020
In this work, we provide some insights and develop some ideas, with few technical details, about the role of explanations in Data Quality in the context of data-based machine learning models (ML).

ATLAS data quality operations and performance for 2015-2018 data-taking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider reads out particle collision data from over 100 million electronic channels at a rate of approximately $100$ kHz, with a recording rate for physics events of approximately 1 kHz.

Understanding movement data quality [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Location Based Services, 2016
© 2016 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group. Understanding of data quality is essential for choosing suitable analysis methods and interpreting their results. Investigation of quality of movement data, due to their spatio-temporal nature, requires consideration from multiple perspectives at different scales.

Evaluation of Nutrient Content and Antioxidant Activity of Wood Ear Mushroom (Auricularia auricula-Judae) in the Addition of Reeds (Imperata cylindrica (L.) Beauv) as a Cultivation Medium

open access: yesHayati Journal of Biosciences, 2022
The nutritional content of mushrooms depends on the type of substrate in the growing medium. Lignocellulose is one of the substrates used for fungal growth media.

Committing to Data Quality Review [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Curation, 2014
Amid the pressure and enthusiasm for researchers to share data, a rapidly growing number of tools and services have emerged. What do we know about the quality of these data? Why does quality matter? And who should be responsible for data quality? We believe an essential measure of data quality is the ability to engage in informed reuse, which requires

The unpredictably eruptive dynamics of spruce budworm populations in eastern Canada

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
We examine historical population data for spruce budworm from several locations through the period 1930–1997, and use density‐dependent recruitment curves to test whether the pattern of population growth over time is more consistent with Royama's (1984; Ecological Monographs 54:429–462) linear R(t) model of harmonic oscillation at Green River New ...

Network topology drives population temporal variability in experimental habitat networks

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Habitat patches connected by dispersal pathways form habitat networks. We explored how network topology affects population outcomes in laboratory experiments using a model species (Daphnia carinata). Central habitat nodes in complex lattice networks exhibited lower temporal variability in population sizes, suggesting they support more stable ...

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

Poor Data Quality [PDF]

open access: yesDeutsches Ärzteblatt international, 2015
Congratulations to the authors for their presentation of patient characteristics and related healthcare data (1). Unfortunately, their article is flawed by a few errors which can result in wrong conclusions being drawn (2). This applies in particular to Figure 3 where the completeness of the initial diagnostic evaluation is depicted.
