On Expedited Rating of Data Stores

2016
To rate a data store is to compute a value that describes the performance of the data store with a database and a workload. A common performance metric of interest is the highest throughput provided by the data store given a pre-specified service level agreement such as 95i??% of requests observing a response time faster than 100i??ms.

ON THE EQUIVALENCE OF QUESTIONNAIRE AND RATING DATA

Psychological Reports, 1962
Recent criticism of the equivalence of Cattell's basic personality factors (2) derived from questionnaire (Q) and behavior rating (L) domains invites prompt examination of relevant experimental data (1). The High School Personality Quiz (HSPQ) (3) was administered to a group of 43 girls (M age = 16.2; SD = 1.2) in a training school for juvenile ...

Beyond rating data

Journal of Second Language Pronunciation, 2015
The accentedness judgment task is widely used in the study of second language speech, and has proven to elicit remarkably reliable ratings across listeners. Despite this reliability, however, we know little about how listeners arrive at accentedness ratings.

Adaptive rate control in high data rate wireless networks

2003 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking, 2003. WCNC 2003., 2004
We propose an adaptive data rate control method for mobile terminals in 1xEV-DO high data rate wireless networks. The method dynamically adjusts and maintains a signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) threshold and an "effective" data transmission rate for each discrete data rate option.

Limitations of travel data for rate computations

Injury Prevention, 2014
Sherry et al 1 investigated the rate of US citizen injury deaths abroad in their recent article ‘Rates of intentionally caused and road crash deaths of US citizens abroad’. They make an admirable attempt to create injury rates, something that is missing from much of the research on US citizen deaths abroad.

A temporal cloak at telecommunication data rate

Nature, 2013
Through advances in metamaterials--artificially engineered media with exotic properties, including negative refractive index--the once fanciful invisibility cloak has now assumed a prominent place in scientific research. By extending these concepts to the temporal domain, investigators have recently described a cloak which hides events in time by ...

Computerized extrapolation of hydrolysis rate data

Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences, 1992
The program RATE was developed to aid in the extrapolation and interpretation of hydrolysis rate data to a format that is useful for environmental risk assessment. Hydrolysis data typically are reported in the literature as pseudo-first-order rate constants at the temperature and pH of the reaction medium used to obtain the kinetics information.

Data at Prisdn Rate

1997
Various coding techniques are being considered for higher rates ranging from DS-1 over the existing twisted wire-pairs spanning the ISDN Central Offices to the Subscriber, and up to 155 Mbps from data distribution centers to desk tops. Rates higher than the basic information rate at 144 kbps, i.e., the H0 (384 kbps), 768 kbps, are discussed in Chapter ...

Rate data and derivatives

AIChE Journal, 1966
AbstractIn most rate process problems, the original experimental data must be differentiated to obtain the derivatives, which are the information actually sought. For first derivatives all the commonly used methods give about the same result. However, the common methods of calculating derivatives can give very different second derivatives for the same ...
