Hermansky‐Pudlak syndrome type 1 (HPS‐1) is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder with poorly understood renal involvement. Urinary extracellular vesicle (uEV) proteomics and a novel Hps1 mouse model reveal mitochondrial abnormalities and lipid accumulation in HPS‐1 kidney proximal tubule cells. Serum ApoA1 correlates with kidney function in our patient

Using a Birth-Death Process to Account for Reporting Errors in Longitudinal Self-reported Counts of Behavior [PDF]
We analyze longitudinal self-reported counts of sexual partners from youth living with HIV. In self-reported survey data, subjects recall counts of events or behaviors such as the number of sexual partners or the number of drug uses in the past three months.

We describe a novel set of Epac‐based FRET‐FLIM biosensors with improved fully cytosolic distribution, achieved without compromising the state‐of‐the‐art performance of our original designs, for detecting cAMP dynamics in real time in live cells with high precision and reliability.

Diphthamide synthesis is linked to the eEF2‐client chaperone machinery
The diphthamide modification of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 2 (eEF2) is important for accurate protein synthesis. We addressed the potential coordination of de novo eEF2 synthesis with simultaneous or subsequent diphthamide modification. Our work reveals that the co‐chaperones Hgh1 and Cpr7, which are known to support folding of nascent ...

MedCycle: Unpaired Medical Report Generation via Cycle-Consistency [PDF]
Generating medical reports for X-ray images presents a significant challenge, particularly in unpaired scenarios where access to paired image-report data for training is unavailable. Previous works have typically learned a joint embedding space for images and reports, necessitating a specific labeling schema for both.

The mitochondrial outer membrane iron–sulphur ([Fe‐S]) protein mitoNEET is a target of the type‐2 diabetes drug pioglitazone. Its unknown molecular function is linked to respiratory complex activity and mitochondrial function. We discovered that O2 protects the mitoNEET [2Fe‐2S] cluster against NO oxidation and desensitization towards reduction by H2S.

Crashing Privacy: An Autopsy of a Web Browser's Leaked Crash Reports [PDF]
Harm to the privacy of users through data leakage is not an unknown issue, however, it has not been studied in the context of the crash reporting system. Automatic Crash Reporting Systems (ACRS) are used by applications to report information about the errors happening during a software failure.

Characterization of fungal carbonyl sulfide hydrolase belonging to clade D β‐carbonic anhydrase
Here, we performed a functional analysis of the fungal enzymes belonging to clade D of the β‐class carbonic anhydrase family (β‐D‐CA). The β‐D‐CAs in the basidiomycete Gloeophyllum trabeum and the ascomycete Trichoderma harzianum showed very low activity in the hydration of CO2 but exhibited high activity in the hydrolysis of carbonyl sulfide (COS ...

Optimal Color Range Reporting in One Dimension [PDF]
Color (or categorical) range reporting is a variant of the orthogonal range reporting problem in which every point in the input is assigned a \emph{color}. While the answer to an orthogonal point reporting query contains all points in the query range $Q$, the answer to a color reporting query contains only distinct colors of points in $Q$.
