In this chapter, we explore the concept of data services. After clarifying the main concepts, we introduce key enabling technologies for building data services, namely XSLT and XQuery. These two XML-based languages are used to transform and query potentially heterogeneous data into well-understood standard XML documents.

Service Composition Framework for Big Data Service
2014 International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud, 2014Demand for big data analysis service has been increasing recently. In addition, the related business and market are also growing. However, big data service development requires a substantial amount of time and human resources. In this paper, we suggest a "Service Composition Framework" for the development of a new big data service that easily combines ...

A Proactive Data Service Model to Encapsulating Stream Sensor Data into Service
2017 14th Web Information Systems and Applications Conference (WISA), 2017Abnormality Detection in power plant is a typical IoT application which aims to identify anomalies in these routinely collected monitoring sensor data; intend to help detect possible faults in the equipment. However, on the development of abnormality detection, we find that there are three challenges.

Data cleansing as a transient service
2010 IEEE 26th International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE 2010), 2010There is often a transient need within enterprises for data cleansing which can be satisfied by offering data cleansing as a transient service. Every time a data cleansing need arises it should be possible to provision hardware, software and staff for accomplishing the task and then dismantling the set up.

Data-Centricity and Services Interoperation
2013This position paper highlights three core areas in which persistent data will be crucial to the management of interoperating services, and highlights selected research and challenges in the area. Incorporating the data-centric perspective holds the promise of providing formal foundations for service interoperation that address issues such as providing ...
