DoD: Database of Databases – Updated Molecular Biology Databases
Database of Databases (DoD) is a collection of molecular biology databases extracted from Nucleic Acids Research, 2005 Database issue. DoD is constructed using javascript and html code. The 14 categories of 719 databases are provided with a search option, keyword help and database description linked to respective pages.

Image databases are not databases with images [PDF]
In this paper, we discuss a number of new problems that arise in image databases, and that set them apart from traditional databases. The fact that image databases are based on similarity, rather than matching, creates a whose set of new issues. Most noticeably, while matching is, by and large, a well defined concept, there are many possible types of ...

Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein enzyme that extends DNA at the chromosome ends in most eukaryotes. Since 1985, telomerase has been studied intensively and components of the telomerase complex have been identified from over 160 eukaryotic species. In the last two decades, there has been a growing interest in studying telomerase owing to its vital role

The CATH database provides hierarchical classification of protein domains based on their folding patterns. Domains are obtained from protein structures deposited in the Protein Data Bank and both domain identification and subsequent classification use manual as well as automated procedures. The accompanying website (www.cathdb.info) provides an easy-to-

Database Slicing on Relational Databases
Many software systems today use databases to permanently store their data. Testing, bug finding and migration are complex problems in the case of databases that contain many records. Here, our method can speed up these processes if we can select a smaller piece of the database (called a slice) that contains all of the records belonging to the slicing ...

Databases have been studied category-theoretically for decades. The database schema -- whose purpose is to arrange high-level conceptual entities -- is generally modeled as a category or sketch. The data itself, often called an instance, is generally modeled as a set-valued functor, assigning to each conceptual entity a set of examples.
