Creation of two children's speech databases

1996 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing Conference Proceedings, 2002
Two sets of speech recordings were made from children talkers ranging in age from 5 to 18 years. One set was recorded via telephone channels (TEL) and the other using high-fidelity recording equipment (MIC). Special considerations and techniques required for the recording of speech from children are discussed.

A call for the creation of personalized medicine databases

Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, 2005
The success of the Human Genome Project raised expectations that the knowledge gained would lead to improved insight into human health and disease, identification of new drug targets and, eventually, a breakthrough in healthcare management. However, the realization of these expectations has been hampered by the lack of essential data on genotype--drug ...

Database method schemas and object creation

Proceedings of the twelfth ACM SIGACT-SIGMOD-SIGART symposium on Principles of database systems - PODS '93, 1993
The expressiveness of various object-oriented languages is investigated with respect to their ability to create new objects. We focus on database method schemas (dms), a model capturing the data manipulation capabilities of a large class of deterministic methods in object-oriented databases. The results clarify the impact of various language constructs

A view creation system for database design

ACM SIGMIS Database: the DATABASE for Advances in Information Systems, 1986
A user view is a representation of reality relevant to a particular user or group of users for a specific purpose. User views are particularly important to logical data base design because they dictate what data and relationships are to be made available to the users.

Creation and Use of a Cre Recombinase Transgenic Database

2009
In many cases, a gene "knockout" results in early embryonic lethality, which obscures the study of potential later functions. In other cases, the "knockout" does not show any phenotype due to the compensation of the gene deficiency by other family members.

Guiding novice database developers in database schema creation

2014 IEEE Conference on e-Learning, e-Management and e-Services (IC3e), 2014
The world is abound with data. Almost every organization has utilized a Database Management System (DBMS) to store and manage the huge amount of data. Problem exists when the ability to leverage the features of the tools has historically fallen to a limited group of experts.
