An axiom system for database transactions

Information Processing Letters, 1990
Abstract A class of transactions is defined that expresses exactly first-order definable database updates. A complete Hoare axiom system is developed for the reasoning of transactions. The system has applications in the verification, optimization, and synthesis of database programs.

Transactional Support for Mobile Databases

2005
With the widespread deployment of wireless communication infrastructure in the past decade, accessing information online while a client is on the move becomes a concrete possibility. Such a computing environment is often referred to as a mobile environment (Imielinski & Badrinath, 1994).

On transaction management in temporal databases

1998
A transaction model provides a framework for concurrent processing of retrieval and update operations in a database. Considerable research effort has focused on various techniques and protocols to ensure the ACID properties of transactions in conventional databases.

Flash-aware Database Transactions

2014
Over the past 40 years, hard disks, the traditional building block of storage systems, have become increasingly slower when compared to the other system components such as the main memory and the CPU. Hard disks face mechanical constraints that cause their I/O bandwidth to lag behind capacity growth, while the access latency has remained virtually ...
