Database Perspectives on Blockchains [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Modern blockchain systems are a fresh look at the paradigm of distributed computing, applied under assumptions of large-scale public networks. They can be used to store and share information without a trusted central party. There has been much effort to develop blockchain systems for a myriad of uses, ranging from cryptocurrencies to identity control ...

Ontology‐Based Data Acquisition, Refinement, and Utilization in the Development of a Multilayer Ferrite Inductor

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Multilayer ferrite inductor prototypes are fabricated by cofiring metallized tapes of NiCuZn ferrite and glass‐ceramic composite. Prerequisites for a predictive component simulation are discussed. An automated data‐pipeline stores and semantically links the experimental data acquired in the study according to a domain ontology.

Database Consistency Using Update-Ordering in Distributed Databases

open access: yesJournal of Algorithms & Computational Technology, 2007
Database consistency is one of the major issues in replicated database in distributed database systems. The logical design for the replicated nodes and the transaction management mechanism are two aspects that give a serious impact to the performance and

Outlier Detection Credit Card Transactions Using Local Outlier Factor Algorithm (LOF)

open access: yesIJCCS (Indonesian Journal of Computing and Cybernetics Systems), 2019
Threats or fraud for credit card owners and banks as service providers have been harmed by the actions of perpetrators of credit card thieves. All transaction data are stored in the bank's database, but are limited in information and cannot be used as a ...

Unifying Memory and Database Transactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Software Transactional Memory is a concurrency control technique gaining increasing popularity, as it provides high-level concurrency control constructs and eases the development of highly multi-threaded applications. But this easiness comes at the expense of restricting the operations that can be executed within a memory transaction, and operations ...

A formal model for ledger management systems based on contracts and temporal logic

open access: yesBlockchain: Research and Applications, 2022
A key component of blockchain technology is the ledger, viz., a database that, unlike standard databases, keeps in memory the complete history of past transactions as in a notarial archive for the benefit of any future test.

Probabilistic Frequent Pattern Growth for Itemset Mining in Uncertain Databases (Technical Report) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
Frequent itemset mining in uncertain transaction databases semantically and computationally differs from traditional techniques applied on standard (certain) transaction databases. Uncertain transaction databases consist of sets of existentially uncertain items. The uncertainty of items in transactions makes traditional techniques inapplicable. In this

An Ontology‐Augmented Digital Twin for Fiber‐Reinforced Polymer Structures at the Example of Wind Turbine Rotor Blades

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A methodology for establishing an ontology‐augmented structural digital twin for fiber‐reinforced polymer structures dedicated to individual lifetime prediction, in this case, a wind turbine rotor blade, is introduced. The methodology resembles the manufacturing as well as the operation of the structure.
