Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

An Architectural Evolution Dataset [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE/ACM 12th Working Conference on Mining Software Repositories, 2015
A good evolution process and a good architecture can greatly support the maintainability of long-lived, large software systems. We present ArEvol, a dataset for the empirical study of architectural evolution. The dataset comprises two popular systems from the same domain and using the same component model, to make comparative studies possible.

Parametric Generation of Datasets for the Creation of Reduced Order Models of Rubber-Metal Elements

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering
The work deals with the parametric generation of datasets, which are used for creation of reduced order models (ROM) of rubber-metal elements (RME). First chapter describes the standard development process and advantages of implementing ROM into this ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

The HASYv2 dataset

open access: yesCoRR, 2017
This paper describes the HASYv2 dataset. HASY is a publicly available, free of charge dataset of single symbols similar to MNIST. It contains 168233 instances of 369 classes. HASY contains two challenges: A classification challenge with 10 pre-defined folds for 10-fold cross-validation and a verification challenge.

Dataset [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2nd Workshop on Data Acquisition To Analysis, 2019
Semantic metadata standards for buildings such as Brick and Project Haystack show promise in enabling wide-scale deployment of energy-efficiency measures and advanced building management technologies. However, techniques for converting existing diverse and idiosyncratic forms of building metadata to these standard forms is an area of active research ...
