Recently, a large number of dataset repositories, catalogs and portals are emerging in the science and government realms. Once a large number of datasets are published on such data portals, the question arises how to retrieve datasets satisfying an information need. In this paper, we present an approach for retrieving datasets according to user queries.

Benchmark datasets are important in document image processing field, as they allow to analyze different approaches and compare their performances in a fair manner. There exist benchmark datasets for several alphabets such as Latin, Arabic and Chinese, but not the Hebrew alphabet. In this paper, a handwritten Hebrew dataset, HHD, is introduced.

In historical document image processing, datasets account for a significant part of any research, and are crucial for the diversity and abundance of experimental results, which contribute to the development of new algorithms to meet the new challenge. Moreover, they are very important for benchmarking processing algorithms.

Developing new ideas and algorithms or comparing new findings in the field of requirements engineering and management implies a dataset to work with. Collecting the required data is time consuming, tedious, and may involve unforeseen difficulties. The need for datasets often forces re-searchers to collect data themselves in order to evaluate their ...

The objective of the ESA DUE CoastColour project is to fully exploit the potential of the MERIS instrument for remote sensing of the coastal zone. The product requirements have been derived from a user consultation process. Users have provided in-situ data from many locations, which were used for algorithm development and validation.

In order to facilitate research based on datasets in empirical software engineering, the meaning of data must be able to be interpreted correctly. Datasets contain measurements that are associated with metrics and entities. In some datasets, it is not always clear which entities have been measured and exactly which metrics have been used.

Evaluation of Dataset Metamodel for Describing the Structure of Datasets
2018Datasets basically contains data and metadata. Data are often misinterpreted due to insufficient metadata and gives rise to quality issues associated with the datasets such as failure to clearly identify the entity being measured and inability to clarify how the metrics were generated.
