Vaccine Safety Surveillance Using Routinely Collected Healthcare Data—An Empirical Evaluation of Epidemiological Designs

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Background: Routinely collected healthcare data such as administrative claims and electronic health records (EHR) can complement clinical trials and spontaneous reports to detect previously unknown risks of vaccines, but uncertainty remains about the ...

NanoCMSer: a consensus molecular subtype stratification tool for fresh‐frozen and paraffin‐embedded colorectal cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Consensus molecular subtypes (CMS1‐4) have been identified to study colorectal cancer heterogeneity and serve as potential biomarkers. In this study, we developed and evaluated NanoCMSer, a NanoString‐based classifier using 55 genes, optimized for FF and FFPE to facilitate the clinical evaluation of CMS subtyping.

Multiple sclerosis clinical decision support system based on projection to reference datasets

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 1863-1873, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a multifactorial disease with increasingly complicated management. Our objective is to use on‐demand computational power to address the challenges of dynamically managing MS. Methods A phase 3 clinical trial data (NCT00906399) were used to contextualize the medication efficacy of peg‐interferon beta‐1a vs ...

Olive Tree-Ring Problematic Dating: A Comparative Analysis on Santorini (Greece)

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Olive trees are a classic component of Mediterranean environments and some of them are known historically to be very old. In order to evaluate the possibility to use olive tree-rings for dendrochronology, we examined by various methods the reliability of olive tree-rings identification.

Detection rate for ESR1 mutations is higher in circulating‐tumor‐cell‐derived genomic DNA than in paired plasma cell‐free DNA samples as revealed by ddPCR

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of ESR1 mutations in plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) is highly important for the selection of treatment in patients with breast cancer. Using multiplex‐ddPCR and identical blood draws, we investigated whether circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cfDNA provide similar or complementary information for ESR1 mutations.

Clinical utility of cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers measured by LUMIPULSE® system

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 9, Issue 12, Page 1898-1909, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objectives Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) are well‐established in research settings, but their use in routine clinical practice remains a largely unexploited potential. Here, we examined the relationship between CSF biomarkers, measured by a fully automated immunoassay platform, and brain β‐amyloid (Aβ ...

Atmospheric mercury concentrations observed at ground-based monitoring sites globally distributed in the framework of the GMOS network [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2016
Long-term monitoring of data of ambient mercury (Hg) on a global scale to assess its emission, transport, atmospheric chemistry, and deposition processes is vital to understanding the impact of Hg pollution on the environment.
