Abstract An experimental study was conducted on the influence of different treatments of date palm fibres on the properties of mortars in both fresh and hardened states. Three types of treatment were discussed: boiling water treatment, sodium hydroxide treatment and a polymer surface treatment based on linseed oil.

Application of Date-Palm Fibres for the Wastewater Treatment
2019Many industries produce large quantities of wastewater. Effluents discharged from industries are often highly polluted and could be toxic to aquatic life. Recently, alternative methods for wastewater treatment have been extensively researched. Removal of different pollutants by adsorption on lignocellulosic materials proved to be a promising, cost ...

Flexural properties of reinforced date palm fibres concrete in Sahara climate
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018The mechanical characteristics of fibres reinforced concrete depend on many factors which are; the conditions of the work, the dosage, the distance between fibres and their orientation and distribution in the concrete. There are also other factors concerns the fibres themselves such as: the proportion of the length of the fibres to their diameter, their

Date palm fibre as a reinforcement of recycled polymer blend matrix
Qatar Foundation Annual Research Forum Volume 2012 Issue 1, 2012This paper investigates for the first time the effect of the amount of Maleic anhydride (MA) on blends of recycled polymers and date palm fibre composites. Recycled low density polyethylene (RLDPE) 20 wt%, recycled high density polyethylene (RHDPE) 40 wt%, and recycled polypropylene (RPP) 40 wt%, blends have been prepared. The recycled polymers, 10 wt%

Improvements in the thermal behaviour of date palm/bamboo fibres reinforced epoxy hybrid composites
Composite Structures, 2021Abstract Natural fibre–reinforced epoxy composites have been increasingly utilised in construction and building applications. These materials introduce cost-effective alternatives to conventional materials and their utilisation often has related to financial advantages that are immediate and can be expected over the structure service life.

Sound absorption properties of a low-density perforated date palm fibres panel
International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology, 2015Sound absorption properties of a natural waste of a low density date palm fibre perforated panel have been presented. The measurements were carried out for a single layer sample using an impedance tube. A simulation was performed using Delany and Bazley model for the sound absorption coefficient for the single layer date palm fibre.

Manufacturing of Chemically Modified Date Palm Leaf Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Composites
2015Chemically modified fibre-reinforced polymer composites were manufactured by melt mixing method with several fractions of the modified fibres. Before proceeding to melt mixing method, fibres were made compatible by different chemical modifications. The interaction between date palm leaf fibres and polymeric matrix was examined by Fourier transform ...

The potential of using date palm fibres as reinforcement for polymeric composites
Materials & Design, 2013Abstract Interfacial adhesion of natural fibres as reinforcement for fibre polymeric composites is the key parameter in designing composites. In the current study, interfacial adhesion of date palm fibre with epoxy matrix is experimentally investigated using single fibre pull out technique. The influence of NaOH treatment concentrations (0–9%), fibre
