Detection of Protein–Protein Interactions in Escherichia coli With Single Molecule Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article describes a regulatory circuit in Escherichia coli able to detect protein–protein interactions with exquisite sensitivity. The interaction between two hybrid proteins fused to Bordetella pertussis adenylate cyclase and its activator calmodulin triggers a potent cyclic AMP signaling cascade.

Neutrino Capture on $^{13}$C

open access: yes, 2012
We present neutrino cross sections on $^{13}$C. The charged-current cross sections leading to various states in the daughter $^{13}N$ and the neutral-current cross sections leading to various states in the daughter $^{13}$C are given.

Giant cell formation produced by laser microbeam irradiation of chromatin in Chinese hamster cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A pulsed laser microbeam of wavelength 532 nm was used to produce visible small lesions in the nucleoplasm or in the cytoplasm of V79 Chinese hamster cells.

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Spontaneous Multipolar Mitosis Through CIN‐seq

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multipolar mitosis, a hallmark of chromosomal instability (CIN), drives tumor heterogeneity but is challenging to study in live cells. Using CIN‐seq, a single‐cell multiomics method, we profiled rare CIN events and identified mechanisms associated with viable multipolar mitosis, including PTEN attenuation, Rho GTPase‐driven cytokinesis failure, and ...

Cells Dynamically Adapt Their Nuclear Volumes and Proliferation Rates During Single to Multicellular Transitions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.

Gravity-Modes in ZZ Ceti Stars: IV. Amplitude Saturation by Parametric Instability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
ZZ Ceti stars exhibit small amplitude photometric pulsations in multiple gravity-modes. We demonstrate that parametric instability, a form of resonant 3-mode coupling, limits overstable modes to amplitudes similar to those observed.

Highly Efficient Extraction of 212 Pb/212Bi from the Decay Chain of 232Th‐Based on Anion Exchange in Bromide Medium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work provides an effective strategy for selectively extracting 212Pb and 212Bi from the decay chain of 232Th as well as its mechanism illustration. Using the novel strategy, 2.07 MBq of 212Pb is successfully separated from 232Th and its daughters, which enables the supply of 212Pb/212Bi directly from the abundant natural thorium resource to be ...

Vliv pohybové aktivity a inaktivity rodičů na pohybovou aktivitu a sezení jejich dětí The effect of parents' physical activity and inactivity on their children's physical activity and sitting

open access: yesActa Universitatis Palackianae Olomucensis. Gymnica, 2008
Provádění pohybové aktivity (PA) dětí je vedle genetických predispozic podmíněno a ovlivněno řadou proměnných, mezi něž patří také PA rodičů.
