Useful daylight illuminances: A replacement for daylight factors

Energy and Buildings, 2006
This paper describes the application of a new paradigm, called useful daylight illuminance (UDI), to assess daylight in buildings. The UDI paradigm is designed to aid the interpretation of climate-based analyses of daylight illuminance levels that are founded on hourly meteorological data for a period of a full year.

Daylight simulator

Applied Optics, 1987
We looked into what was required to make an artificial source similar to CIE daylight D(65) spectral power distribution. As a result, an artificial light source was developed with its 300-700-nm relative spectral power distribution similar to that defined by CIE D(65), based on a quartz-halogen lamp and colored absorbing glass filters in a side-by-side

Daylighting in classrooms - the daylight factor as a performance criterion

2014
Recent research has shown that environmental conditions in classrooms, and namely daylighting conditions, can influence students health, well-being and performance. In the last years several studies, dealing with the effects of environmental conditions in classrooms in the learning process, have been published (Winterbottom, & Wilkins, 2009; Barret ...
