Daylight factor meter

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1960
A brief survey and criticism of existing methods of measuring daylight factors is followed by a description of an improved daylight factor meter, in which the current outputs of two photoelectric cells are compared by a null-balance method. When one cell is exposed inside the building and the other outside, the ratio of the illuminations at the two ...

Distribution of Daylight Factor in Classrooms

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
The study capability of pupils depends on many factors. One of the factors is the level and the quality of daylighting in classrooms. The daylighting quality is particularly important for very young pupils in primary schools and nurseries. This article deals with natural light in classrooms with different school equipment and furniture and various ...

An objective method for measuring the daylight factor

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1952
Daylight factors are measured by connecting two photocells in a bridge-circuit. Provisions are made in the instrument described to minimize errors due to: (a) deviation from the cosine law for incident light; (b) disparity between the sensitivity of the photocell and that of the human eye; (c) heating-up of the photocell in sunlight; (d) improper ...

Architectural Models for Measurement of Daylight Factor

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016
Daylight factor is one of the physical parameters affecting indoor environmental. We can determine this factor in many ways. The main ways are computational methods, in situ measurements and finally measurements in architectural models. Measurements in models enable us comparison both measurements under real sky and under artificial sky.

Algorithms for calculation of daylight factors in streets

Lighting Research & Technology, 2002
This paper presents algorithms for calculation of sky components and daylight factors in linear building structures using the solid angle projection method. In order to estimate the precision of calculations two sky models; the uniform sky and CIE overcast sky, both giving equal illuminance on the horizontal plane, are used.

Evaluation of Daylight regulations in buildings using daylight factor analysis method by radiance

Energy for Sustainable Development, 2019
Abstract Daylighting plays a key role in occupants' thermal and visual comfort as well as developing a sustainable environment. Windows size, shape, and the relevant room dimensions are three major factors that affect the quality and quantity of daylighting.

Factors Affecting Transcutaneous Bilirubin Measurement: Effect of Daylight

Pediatrics International, 1991
The purpose of this study was to determine whether daylight might affect the accuracy and reliability of TcB measurement at the forehead and sternum. One hundred and seven full‐term newborn infants were divided into two groups. Babies in group I (N = 59) were kept near the window which was sometimes directly exposed to daylight, and babies in group II (

The computation of daylight factors in factory design

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1940
The computation of daylight factors is becoming increasingly common in spite of its complexity. Simple protractors are described which facilitate such computations, and are suggested as being particularly useful in factory design.

The daylight factor and actual illuminance ratios

Lighting Research & Technology, 1980
Measurements of daylight at hourly intervals were made during seven periods of several weeks each between May 1978 and July 1979. Illuminance was recorded externally, on horizontal and vertical surfaces, and internally, within model rooms. It was found that the ratio of internal to external illuminance varied considerably, even under heavily clouded ...
