Climate Responsive Design Simulation and Modelling for Industrial Heritage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The control of solar radiation is a basic dimension of modern design in all different types of constructions. Many architects have recently observed that different phases of sustainable design require a set of calculations and simulations that are ...

Application of Simplified Daylight Prediction Method for Daylighting Performance Evaluation on Overcast Sky

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Solar Energy Society, 2014
Daylight is very useful to control the indoor environment, and can save energy in buildings. So it is necessary to evaluate the daylighting performance of buildings. We proposed a simplified equation that can be used in the early stages of design. And we verified the equation by using the measured illuminance data from the 1/5 scale model.

Space Group Modulated Upconversion and Mechanoluminescence in [YbEu] Cocrystal Complexes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We report here a space group regulation strategy to optimize both upconversion and mechanoluminescence in cocrystal assemblies, representing the first example of integrating these two properties within a single lanthanide complex material. ABSTRACT Lanthanide complexes exhibiting stimuli‐responsive luminescence, such as upconversion (UC) and ...

Evaluating color texture descriptors under large variations of controlled lighting conditions

open access: yes, 2015
The recognition of color texture under varying lighting conditions is still an open issue. Several features have been proposed for this purpose, ranging from traditional statistical descriptors to features extracted with neural networks. Still, it is not

Computational Evaluation of a Biomimetic Kinetic Façade Inspired by the Venus Flytrap for Daylight and Glare Performance

open access: yesBuildings
Centralized daylight control has been extensively studied for its ability to optimize useful daylight while mitigating glare in targeted areas. However, this approach lacks a comprehensive visual comfort framework, as it does not simultaneously address ...

Comparison of chemical clustering methods using graph- and fingerprint-based similarity measures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper compares several published methods for clustering chemical structures, using both graph- and fingerprint-based similarity measures. The clusterings from each method were compared to determine the degree of cluster overlap. Each method was also

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.
