Daylighting Performance of CdTe Semi-Transparent Photovoltaic Skylights with Different Shapes for University Gymnasium Buildings

open access: yesBuildings
The daylighting environment in university gymnasiums affects daily teaching and sports training. However, direct sunlight, glare, and indoor overheating in summer are common problems.

Covalently Integrated Selenoviologen–N‐Heterocyclic Carbene–Pt Nanoparticles for Visible‐Light‐Driven Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A covalently integrated single‐component photocatalyst is constructed by anchoring selenoviologen to platinum nanoparticles via robust N‐heterocyclic carbene ligands. The resulting Pt─C covalent bonds function dually as protective structural scaffolds and direct channels for ultrafast intramolecular electron transfer This precise interfacial ...

A parametric approach for achieving optimum daylighting performance through solar screens in desert climates

open access: yes, 2015
Daylighting provision gives a significant contribution to the enhancement of the indoor environment. However, in desert climates spaces are exposed to direct solar radiation, leading to a non-uniform daylight distribution and excessive heat gain.

Green and Scalable Synthesis of Efficient and Stable CsPbBr3 Perovskite Quantum Dots Enables Low‐Threshold Amplified Spontaneous Emission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Green and scalable synthesis of CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots using bio‐sourced lecithin and hexane enables single‐batch production over 10 grams. Suppressed Auger recombination and electron‐phonon coupling yields 95% PLQY, enhanced stability, and low ASE thresholds of 230.4 (ns) and 50.1 (fs) µJ cm−2 in neat films. ABSTRACT Halide perovskite quantum

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

Parametric Optimization Approach to Evaluate Dynamic Shading Within Double-Skin Insulated Glazed Units for Multi-Criteria Daylighting Performance in Tropics

open access: yesJournal of Daylighting
This research aims to support the choice of an appropriate dynamic louver shading system (DL-SS) within double-skin facade insulated glazed units (DSF-IGUs) as a high-performance integrated window system (DSF-IGUs/DL-SS) that meets both thermal and ...

Temporal Decoupling: A New Paradigm of 4D Photo‐Responsive Carbon Dots Films With Modular Regulation of Color and Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a novel energy regulation strategy using the long‐lived S₁ state as a “kinetic capacitor” to achieve temporally decoupled integration of photoinduced deformation and multicolor fluorescence in naphthalimide‐functionalized carbon dots. This dual‐channel programmable shunting of excited‐state energy establishes a dynamic single‐use

Daylight Performance of an Office Building

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Daylighting plays an important role to enhance the comfort levels for the occupants in the building and also to reduce the usage of artificial lighting during daytime conditions. Excess daylighting of the building increases sun lighting inside the building. Daylighting depends on number of openings provided in each direction of the building and also on

Multi‐Scale Bionic Structure Constructs Biomass Flame‐Retardant Thermal Insulation Foam Material

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by mussel adhesion and hierarchical brick‐and‐mortar architectures, a cellulose‐based biomimetic foam is constructed by anchoring bentonite nanosheets onto a polydopamine‐decorated cellulose nanofiber network. The resulting foam combines low thermal conductivity with intrinsic flame retardancy and full biodegradability, presenting a ...
