In vivo studies on genotoxicity of a soil fumigant, dazomet

Environmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, 1998
Dazomet is a soil fumigant effective against germinating weed seeds, nematodes, soil fungi, and soil insects. Dazomet is primarily used for preplanting control in tobacco and forest nursery crops and is now marketed for a wider range of open field and greenhouse crops (e.g., vegetables, fruits, ornamental plants, lawns, and turfs).

THE EFFECT OF DAZOMET ON SALMONELLAS ON ARTIFICIALLY CONTAMINATED EGGS

Australian Veterinary Journal, 1976
Salmonellas were isolated from the surface of only 1 of 21 artificially contaminated eggs after they had been treated with dazomet. By comparison salmonellas were isolated from the surface of 13 of the 21 untreated eggs. Penetration by the salmonellas through the shells to the shell membranes resulted from the immersion of warm eggs in a cold ...

Environmental Factors and Soil Amendment Affect the Decomposition Rate of Dazomet Fumigant

Journal of Environmental Quality, 2018
Dazomet (3,5‐dimethyl‐1,3,5‐thiadiazinane‐2‐thione) is widely used as a soil fumigant for controlling soil‐borne diseases and pests in China and other agricultural countries. The active ingredient of dazomet is its degradation product, methyl isothiocyanate.

Sulfoxidation of the Soil Fumigants Metam, Methyl Isothiocyanate, and Dazomet

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1994
Oxidation of metam [CH 3 NHC(S)SNa] with H 2 O 2 produces the sulfenate [CH 3 NHC(S)SONa] and sulfinate [CH 3 NHC(S)SO 2 Na], depending on the amount of oxidant, but the sulfonate [CH 3 NHC(S)SO 3 Na] and corresponding thiocarbamates [CH 3 NHC(O)SO n Na, n=0, 1, 2, or 3] are not observed on the basis of comparisons with standards.

Über den Abbau von Dazomet im Boden

1968

Evaluation of dazomet as fumigant for the control of brown root rot disease

Pest Management Science, 2012
AbstractBACKGROUND: Brown root rot disease caused by Phellinus noxius is widespread in approximately 216 tree and plant species in tropical and subtropical countries. No direct means of protection against P. noxius infection have thus far been developed.

Effects of dazomet on soil organisms and recolonisation of fumigated soil

Pedobiologia, 2014
Abstract Fumigation is a common practice to control soil pathogens, but little is known about the impacts of fumigation on other soil biota groups. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of fumigation on soil biota, including microorganisms, nematodes, and microarthropods.

Incorporation of tracers and dazomet by rotary tillers and a spading machine

Soil and Tillage Research, 1997
Soil fumigant efficacy in forest-tree and ornamental nurseries depends on the tillage tool used for incorporation. Maximum depth and uniformity of incorporation of surface applied materials by three rotary tillers and a spading machine were compared in a loamy sand nursery using ceramic-sphere tracers (1-3 mm diameter) and dazomet (tetrahydro-3,5 ...

Using dazomet to reduce broomrape seed banks in soils with low moisture content

Crop Protection, 2014
Dazomet (Basamid®) is a dry powder formulation that releases the toxic gas methyl isothiocyanate for the control of soil borne pests and weed seeds when applied to moist soils. We evaluated its efficacy for destroying Phelipanche mutelii (branched broomrape) seed banks.

Effects of Dazomet-Granular Fumigant and Mulch for the Production of ‘Sunny’ Tomato

Journal of Vegetable Crop Production, 1997
ABSTRACT 'Sunny' tomato plants were grown, using four fumigant treatments and three mulch treatments. Fumigants were metham sodium at the rate of 935 l/ha and dazomet at rates of 336 kg/ha, 420 kg/ha and 504 kg/ha. Mulches were 1.25 mil black polyethylene (plastic), a spray-on styrene-butadiene polymer dispersion (Styrofan) sprayed over beds at a rate ...
